Bianca Pagdanganan guides Gonzaga to sixth-place finish

Bianca Pagdanganan carded a 2-under-par 70 in the final round to finish fourth and help guide the Gonzaga Bulldogs to a sixth-place finish at the 15-team The Gold Rush at Seal Beach, California, on Tuesday.

Pagdanganan finished the three-round tournament with an even-par 216.

Team champion Southern California had the top three placers – led by medalist Robynn Ree at 4-under 212.

Gonzaga finished with a 905 team total, 12 shots behind fifth-place BYU.

Also at The Gold Rush, the Idaho Vandals placed 12th.

Kristin Strankman paced the Vandals with a 10-over 226, tying her for 23rd place.

Idaho finished with a 934 total, three strokes behind 11th-place Cal State Fullerton.

Softball

Whitworth junior starter Makayla Lefever was named the Northwest Conference pitching student-athlete of the week.

Lefever pitched the Pirates to a 7-3 win over Pomona-Pitzer and a 3-2 win over Redlands last weekend in California.
