Deputies are looking for four men suspected of beating a gas station customer who tried to intervene when the men assaulted an employee during a robbery attempt early Sunday morning.

Deputies were called to the Zip Trip at 8215 E. Trent at 2:15 a.m. Sunday. The employee told deputies that a group of four men entered the store and tried to steal alcohol, according to a Spokane County Sheriff’s Office news release. The men reportedly began assaulting the employee when he tried to stop the theft.

A customer in the store saw the assault and tried to intervene. The customer was severely beaten by the men and has serious but non-life threatening injuries, the news release said.

The men and a woman drove west on Trent in a white sedan. Anyone with information about the assault and robbery attempt is asked to call (509) 477-6611 and reference report number 221143.
