Outlook: The week is full of subplots as Eastern closes out the regular season with two games at Reese Court. There’s senior forward Venky Jois, who is eight points from being the leading scorer in school history; there’s the emotion of Senior Day for Jois, guard Austin McBroom and Kyle Reid; and there’s a chance for Eastern to finish 12-0 at home by sweeping Idaho State and conference leader Weber State. If the Eagles do that, they’re guaranteed to finish in the top four and earn a bye into the quarterfinals of next week’s Big Sky tournament in Reno, Nevada. “Our team has worked hard to defend our home court,” coach Jim Hayford said. “If we want to keep our playoff position and stay unbeaten at home, everything will be just fine.” The Eagles are coming off a 66-62 loss at Idaho that left them in a four-way tie for third place with the Vandals, North Dakota and ISU. A split this week would leave them anywhere between fourth and sixth place. Eastern will finish either fifth or sixth if it loses both games. ISU has won five of its last seven games, while Weber just won a first-place showdown against Montana despite losing double-double machine Joel Bolomboy (17.6 ppg, 13.6 rpg) to a knee injury. Bolomboy’s status is uncertain for this weekend.
