Prep roundup: Central Valley volleyball rallies to edge Shadle Park

Paige Wollan had 18 kills and Central Valley (1-2, 1-0) came back after losing the first game to get past visiting Shadle Park (2-3, 0-1) 11-25, 25-14, 25-23, 21-25, 15-8 on Tuesday as the Greater Spokane League kicked off league play across the area.

Elise Peck had 20 assists and Sydney Johnson added 15 digs for the Bears.

U-Hi tops Lewis and Clark: Rachael Schlect recorded 10 kills to lead visiting University (3-1, 1-0) over Lewis and Clark (1-4, 0-1) 25-12, 25-15, 25-18.

Kaitlynn Madison had 12 digs for U-Hi and Brooklyn Thomas added 17 assists. Kaytlyn Rhinehart led LC with an ace and four kills.

Mt. Spokane sweeps Ferris: Miahna Waters led Mt. Spokane with 18 kills and 14 digs and the visiting Wildcats (4-1, 1-0) swept Ferris (2-2, 1-1) 25-21, 25-23, 25-17.

G-Prep sweeps North Central: Maggie Davidson had five aces to help Gonzaga Prep (5-0, 1-0) easily sweep visiting North Central (0-5, 0-1) 25-11, 25-11, 25-4.

Hoku Vargas had 17 assists and Erin O’Rourk had 10 kills for the Bullpups.

Mead crushes Rogers: Sarah Absalonson and Lindsey Russell both had 12 assists and visiting Mead (5-0, 1-0) crushed Rogers (1-4, 0-1) 25-8, 25-12, 25-11.

Lindsey Russell recorded 12 assists for Mead.

Northeast A

Olivia Mikkelson had 34 assists, Katelyn Clark added four aces and visiting Lakeside (9-0, 5-0) cruised over Newport (4-2, 3-2) 25-8, 25-9, 25-5.

Deer Park handles Medical Lake: Led by Tina Carlson’s nine aces and 12 assists, visiting Deer Park (3-2, 3-2) beat Medical Lake (0-6, 0-5) in straight sets 25-11, 25-16, 25-17.

Freeman sweeps Colville: Hayley Damon had nine kills and Freeman (4-1, 4-1) swept visiting Colville (3-2, 3-2) 25-10, 25-19, 25-14. Justis Wells added 19 assists.

Idaho

Ali Williams had 14 kills, 14 assists and eight aces to pace Coeur d’Alene (5-4, 2-1) over Lewiston (2-2, 1-1) 25-16, 25-15, 11-25, 25-21 in the Inland Empire League.

Delaney Schmidt added three blocks and three aces for the Vikings.

Lake City takes care of Lakeland: Ashley Kaufman recorded three aces and nine kills as Lake City (6-0) swept Lakeland (3-6) 25-8, 25-9, 25-13.

Klaire Mitchell added 21 assists for Lake City.

Girls Soccer

Northeast A

Taylor Cannon made 15 saves to lead visiting Medical Lake (4-3, 4-1) over Deer Park (4-2, 3-1) 1-0.

Makayla Geiger scored in the 59th minute for the Cardinals.

Colville blanks Freeman: Keren Torres scored two first-half goals to help visiting Colville (3-4, 3-2) blank Freeman (3-3, 2-2) 4-0. Kirsten Stuckey added a second-half tally for the Indians.

Nonleague

Maddie Kemink scored twice in the second half and Jamie Conner had two assists and an early goal to lead Riverside (3-3) over Kellogg (1-4-1) 4-0.

Cheney shuts out Lakeland: Cheney moved to 7-0 on the season, shutting out visiting Lakeland (2-5-1) 3-0.

Gabby Nguyen and Madison O’Callaghan scored for the Blackhawks.

Idaho

Kallie Mastroberardino’s unassisted goal in the 73rd minute lifted visiting Lewiston (8-2-2, 2-1-1) over Coeur d’Alene 2-1 in an Inland Empire League game.

Lewiston’s Demi Randall scored in the 15th minute and Erika Skindlov tied in the 70th minute for the Vikings.

Boys Soccer

Austin Garitone scored a pair of goals, including the game-winner on a penalty kick in the 38th minute, and visiting Coeur d’Alene held off Lewiston 2-1 in an Inland Empire League 5A match.

Garitone’s first goal came on an assist from Gabe Nazemi in the sixth minute.
