Mike Trout owns a robust .558 batting average against Seattle Mariners starter Felix Hernandez, who starts Saturday night against the Halos.
Hernandez is 16-16 with a 3.34 ERA in 50 career starts against the Angels, including 5-6 with a 2.93 ERA in 25 starts at Angel Stadium.
King Felix faces Angels opening day starter Ricky Nolasco, who is 1-4 with a 4.60 ERA in five career starts against the Mariners.
Trout’s gaudy numbers aren’t due to small sample size bias either. Well, yeah, technically they are. Maybe not tiny sample size then. In 52 at-bats, Trout has gathered 29 hits with seven homers and 19 RBIs.
Hernandez has struck him out 24 times. But if Trout makes contact, he usually does good things with it for the Angels.
