NPR’s Tom Ashbrook reschedules Spokane show for Sept. 22

Tom Ashbrook, host of NPR’s “On Point,” has postponed his visit to Spokane until Sept. 22.

Ashbrook, who was scheduled to visit Spokane on May 12 as part of his “Listening to America” tour, will undergo surgery to repair an artery next month and will be unable to fly.

“Sometimes we just have to take care of medical stuff,” Ashbrook said in a statement. “My doctor says now’s the time. He says I’ll be back at the gym in a month. That sounds good to me! Thanks for your patience.”

Ashbrook will film part of his Spokane show for an upcoming program and will hold a Q&A session about his career and his daily call-in talk show.

The show, a fundraiser for Spokane Public Radio, will be held at the Bing Crosby Theater, 901 W. Sprague Ave., at 7:30 p.m.

Tickets for the original date will be accepted at the rescheduled show. Those who purchased tickets through TicketsWest and cannot attend the rescheduled event should email twspokane.support@ticketswest.com for a refund of the ticket price and fees.
