An elderly woman died in a car crash Friday after her SUV slammed into a parked trailer.

The woman was driving southbound on the 2200 block of S. Adams Road in Spokane Valley when she hit a parked trailer at 9:45 a.m. The accident occurred adjacent to Sunrise Elementary between 22nd and 23rd.

According to a Spokane County Sheriff’s office news release the woman “may have had some type of medical emergency” right before crashing into the parked trailer. However, that is still under investigation.

The woman died on the scene. By late morning the medical examiner had arrived at the crash site, as had the county chaplain.
