SAN FRANCISCO – Defending Pac-12 volleyball champion Washington was tabbed as preseason favorite by a vote of conference coaches, the conference announced Wednesday.

The Huskies received eight first-place votes and collected 118 points for an edge on Stanford, which received three first-place votes and 113 points. Oregon (93 points) was third and Utah (88) was fourth.

UW, which has won the last two titles, finished 29-5 overall and 16-4 in the Pac-12 last season.

Washington State (66 points) was predicted for seventh, its highest position during the six years of the 12-member conference poll. The Cougars’ Jen Greeny was named Pac-12 Coach of the Year last season.
