A man reported missing early Tuesday morning was found dead miles away from his family’s home.

Michael D. Long, 28, was reportedly last seen in the 22000 block of E. Morris Road in Newman Lake at about 4:30 a.m. Tuesday, according to a Spokane County Sheriff’s office news release. His family said he was exhibiting “strange and paranoid behavior” and was unfamiliar with the area.

Long apparently walked away from the residence without his cell phone, wallet and other items.

The 28-year-old was found dead late Tuesday night several miles from the residence on Morris Road, sheriff’s deputies said. He appeared to have succumbed to the weather.

The Spokane County Medical Examiner will release official cause and manner of death.
