Gonzaga’s first challenge as the top-ranked team in the country will be a road game against the BYU Cougars in Provo, Utah.

This is the 16th meeting between the Cougars and Bulldogs, and Gonzaga coach Mark Few has been at the helm for all of the previous 15 meetings against the Cougars. Overall, Few and GU are 10-5 against BYU.

GU has won the past two games played at the Marriott Center and holds a 3-2 advantage over the Cougars in games played at Provo.

The last three outcomes in the series have been determined by a combined eight points.

In the most recent meeting between the schools, the Zags advanced to the 2016 WCC championship game following an 88-84 victory in the semifinals. Kyle Wiltjer scored 29 points and Domantas Sabonis pulled down 14 rebounds to lead the Bulldogs.

Last year in Provo, Gonzaga narrowly defeated the Cougars 71-68 behind 21 points from Wiltjer. Sabonis also scored 15 points and had 13 rebounds.

BYU was victorious in their first match with the Zags during the 2011 NCAA tournament. In Denver, the Cougars eliminated GU in the third round when Jimmer Fredette scored 34 points to lead BYU to an 89-67 win.
