Missoula theater to be demolished in wake of roof collapse

Associated Press

MISSOULA – A Missoula theater will be demolished after its roof collapsed under the weight of heavy snow earlier this month.

The Missoulian reported that officials with the Silver Foundation say they do not believe the Silver Theater will be rebuilt after it is demolished. The foundation has already obtained a demolition permit and work to demolish the building began Tuesday.

The theater’s roof collapsed because of heavy snow and ice on Feb. 4. The theater had been scheduled to host the Big Sky Documentary Film Festival, which was slated to begin Friday.

The film festival has found other venues and will run through Feb. 26.
