A person was shot and seriously injured early Tuesday in Spokane’s Browne’s Addition.

Police were called to Horizon Apartments at 1712 W. Second Ave., about a block east of the Browne’s Addition Rosauers store, about 12:15 a.m. after receiving multiple calls reporting shots fired, Spokane police said in a news release.

Officers later located a shooting victim who already had arrived at a local hospital. The victim is in critical condition, police said.

James A. Tibbets, 32, was arrested and will face a first-degree assault charge, police said. Tibbets and the victim know each other.

Police ask that anyone with information on the shooting who has not talked to investigators to call Crime Check at (509) 456-2233.

Police also were called to a second shooting an hour later in the 400 block of South Fiske Street. No victim was found, but police found evidence that shots had been fired. A man was arrested in June for shooting up a home on the same block. Nobody was injured in that shooting either.

A neighbor who lives on the block said her husband heard arguing coming from a location near the intersection of S. Fiske St. and E. Fourth Ave. early Tuesday morning, then heard multiple shots.
