Man run over by suspected car prowler was Seattle cop’s son

Associated Press

SAMMAMISH, Wash. – Police say a man who was run over by a car and killed when he confronted a suspected car prowler in the Seattle suburb of Sammamish was the son of a police officer.

Seattle Police said Wednesday evening that the victim was the son of a veteran officer in the department.

King County Sheriff’s Office Sgt. Cindi West says the man in his 20s and his girlfriend were walking their dog at Beaver Lake Park Wednesday afternoon when they saw someone trying to break into their parked car. The man ran to his car and tried to stop the suspect. She says the suspect jumped into a tan or gold SUV and began driving at the victim.

West says the victim then pulled a gun and fired shots at the SUV but was struck and killed by the vehicle.
