Mariners pregame: M’s begin 7-game road trip at Minnesota, lineups and starters

Game 65: The Seattle Mariners (31-33) host the Toronto Blue Jays (32-27) in the first of a four-game series at 5:10 p.m. at Target Field in Minneapolis.

Monday’s game is the first of a seven-game road trip, which also includes a three-game series against the Rangers in Arlington, Texas. The Mariners will attempt to bounce back after losing a three-game series 2-1 to the Toronto Blue Jays at Safeco Field.

Seattle won the three-game series against the Twins, 2-1, last week at Safeco Field.

The Mariners, which are currently tied with the Rangers for third in the A.L. West division standings, have won 10 of their last 14 games and are 11-20 on the road this season.

Lineups and starters

Starters: RHP Yovani Gallardo (2-6, 6.26) vs. LHP Adalberto Mejia (1-1, 4.18)

Mariners Notes

  • Mike Zunino is sixth among American League catchers with 17 RBI. Since being recalled on May 22, he Zunino is batting .286 (16x56) with four home runs and 15 RBI.
  • In Sunday’s game against the Toronto Blue Jays, the Mariners filled the outfield with rookies for the first time this season – Ben Gamel in left field, Guillermo Heredia in center field and Mitch Haniger in right field.
  • Gamel’s .327 batting average (50x153), the second-best rookie batting average in the majors behind the New York Yankees’ Aaron Judge.
