Woman struck, killed by car while standing in middle of U.S. Highway 95 north of Hayden

A woman was hit and killed by a vehicle Sunday evening on U.S. Highway 95 near Garwood Road north of Hayden.

Velvette Skaggs, 37, of Comanche, Oklahoma was apparently standing in the middle of the northbound lane of the highway for unknown reasons, according to an Idaho State Police news release.

A 2003 Dodge Durango driven by Travis Storms, 38, of Athol, struck her at about 9:30 p.m., the release states. She died of her injuries on the roadway.

The Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office and English Funeral Home of Post Falls assisted at the scene.
