PULLMAN – Washington State rose four spots in the Associated Press 25 and the Cougars were ranked 20th in the country when the poll was released Tuesday morning.

WSU, which entered the season inside the AP Top 25 for just the third time in program history, boosted its stock with a 31-0 win over Montana State in the season opener Saturday night at Martin Stadium.

The 20th-ranked Cougars host Boise State in a 7:30 p.m. game on Saturday. The Broncos were left out of the rankings for the second straight week after a 24-13 win over Troy.

Elsewhere in the Pac-12, USC dropped from fourth to sixth, Washington rose from eighth to seventh and Stanford stayed put at No. 14.

The Cougars also debuted in the Amway Coaches Poll, at No. 22, after being unranked last week. ESPN placed WSU No. 20 in its own power rankings, which were released Monday night.
