Area roundup: No. 22 Gonzaga men’s soccer falls to No. 16 Washington

Elijah Rice scored in the 62nd minute to help No. 16 Washington (3-1) put away No. 22 Gonzaga (3-1) 3-0 on Thursday at Husky Soccer Stadium in Seattle.

The game was originally scheduled as a Gonzaga home game but was moved across the state due to the poor air quality in the region.

Quentin Pearson started the scoring for the Huskies in the 15th minute and Scott Menzies added insurance in the 87th minute for Washington.

Ben White had two of the Zags’ four shots. Gonzaga is scheduled to host Seattle University on Sunday.

Volleyball

CC Spokane 3, Grays Harbor 0: .Alisha Straw had nine kills, Kendall Collins added 35 assists and CC Spokane (6-1) swept Grays Harbor (2-12) 3-0 (25-16, 25-16, 25-23) in a nonconference match at SFCC.

Providence 3, North Idaho 1: Mariah Diaz recorded 10 kills and Providence (12-3) beat North Idaho (9-3) 3-1 (25-20, 25-20, 16-25, 25-20) in the University of Providence Tournament in Great Falls, Montana.

Halle Hess had 13 kills and Haliee Etter added 10 for the Cardinals.
