At least one person was seriously injured in a vehicle crash on Spokane’s South Hill Monday morning.

Spokane firefighters and police officers were called to High Drive near 23rd Avenue at around 7 a.m. when a car had apparently hit a tree and came to a rest in the middle of the road. The car’s front side was seriously damaged and debris littered the roadway.

Witnesses said the car was occupied by multiple people. A doctor who lives along Adams Street was working when she heard the car slam into the tree and immediately ran out to help the passengers, said her neighbor Bill Oberholser. The driver of the vehicle apparently fled.

Police said at least one person was seriously injured.
