A week after a woman reported she was sexually assaulted at knifepoint, Coeur d’Alene police are asking for help in identifying her attacker.

The woman reported that a man approached and asked to talk to her while she was walking home on North 18th Street, north of Sherman Avenue, at about 2:30 a.m. on April 10. He then pushed her to the ground, threatened her with a knife and sexually assaulted her, police said.

On Monday, the department released a sketch of the suspect based on the victim’s description. He was described as a white man, about 5 feet 9 inches tall with an average build. He had short, dark hair and a dark goatee. At the time of the attack, he wore a gray sweatshirt and blue jeans.

Coeur d’Alene police asked anyone with information about the assault to call (208) 769-2320.
