Wednesday to Sunday, the North Idaho State Fair will welcome visitors from all over the region. A host of events are scheduled that are sure to keep everyone entertained.

Opening day, the James Barker Band is scheduled to open for country star Randy Houser at his “Party in the Dirt” concert. Fans of the popular Canadian country band can expect to hear hits like “Lawn Chair Lazy” and others from the band’s 2018 album “Game On.”

Houser will then take the stage for the remainder of the concert, performing favorites such as “Runnin’ Outta Moonlight,” “How Country Feels” and maybe even Houser’s 2018 single “What Whiskey Does.” The show is sure to deliver those good country feels.

Coeur d’Alene’s Last Chance Band and Jacque Jolene from DeBorgia, Montana, will start warming up the crowd at 5:30 p.m.

The days following will feature a wide variety of traditional fair events.

The Gem State Stampede PRCA Rodeo will run Aug. 24-25 from 6:30 to 9 p.m. and Aug. 26 from 1:30 to 4 p.m. Visitors will get to watch as bronco riders, bullfighters, steer wrestlers and more display their unique talents. These shows tend to sell out quickly.

A long list of carnival attractions will be open to visitors from 2 to 10 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday and from 12 noon to 10 p.m. Aug. 24-26.

The Flyin’ Fools High Dive Show will run daily. Showtimes are still to be announced but the high dive platform should not be hard to miss.

Nationally recognized illusionist and comic magician Jared Sherlock will also be performing daily.

A number of kid-friendly events is also scheduled. Kids’ events include the “Cute as a Bug Petting Zoo” and the “Gemstone & Fossil Mine” among others.

A motocross exhibition will open Tuesday before the fair officially starts. This action-packed thrill ride will feature Nate Adams, 19 time X-Games medalist, Brett Turcotte, two time Aspen Games gold medalist, Willie Elam, 11 time X-Games competitor and 2018 Bronze medalist, and Kris Foster, X-Games silver medalist.
