Chick-fil-A is not coming to Gonzaga

Chick-fil-A’s website appeared to be down Sunday, a day after incorrectly posting that an outlet was planned for the Gonzaga campus.

Gonzaga University will not open a Chick-fil-A on its campus, contrary to an incorrect notification on the company’s website, according to a Gonzaga spokesperson.

“Contrary to some news outlets in the Spokane area, this restaurant franchise is NOT slated to come to Gonzaga University,” Mary Joan Hahn, spokesperson for Gonzaga, wrote in an email Sunday.

Gonzaga contracts with a company called Sodexo to manage its food services, and Sodexo would have been in charge of bring Chick-fil-A to Gonzaga.

Hahn said she’s waiting to hear from Sodexo with regard to the mistake. The Spokesman-Review could not immediately reach Sodexo for comment.

On Saturday, Chick-fil-A’s website stated that a location was “coming soon” to Gonzaga University. As of Sunday, the page on Chick-fil-A’s website announcing the opening appeared to be down.

Chick-fil-A, the fast food chain known for its fried chicken sandwiches, did not immediately return a request for comment by The Spokesman-Review.
