A woman was shot in north Spokane Saturday morning in what police are treating as a domestic violence incident.

Shortly after 10:30 a.m., Spokane Police Department officers responded to a report of a shooting at a home in the vicinity of 500 E. Carlisle St. They found the woman, who said she had been choked and shot by a man, Danny R. Goodwin, 27, with whom she had been having a relationship.

Goodwin was detained and subsequently arrested on one count of first degree domestic violence assault and one count of second degree domestic violence assault. The woman was transported to an area hospital for treatment, according to a police department new release. She is expected to live.

Detectives from Major Crimes are seeking a warrant and will process the scene alongside forensics, according to the release.
