Riding a six-game winning streak, the Idaho women’s basketball team will have revenge on its mind when Big Sky Conference rival Eastern Washington comes to the Cowan Spectrum.

After winning the first meeting 71-64 in Cheney last month, the Eagles will go for the regular-season sweep at 5 p.m. today in Moscow, Idaho, with the men’s game to follow at 7:30. The action will be broadcast live on SWX.

Last season, both teams won on their home court. Eastern Washington then knocked Idaho out of the conference tournament before the Vandals returned the favor and knocked them out of the second round of the Women’s Basketball Invitational at Reese Court.

The matchup features two of the Big Sky’s, and the nation’s, top shooters in Eastern’s Delaney Hodgins and Idaho’s Mikayla Ferenz. Ferenz leads the conference with 22.2 points per game and Hodgins follows closely with 20.8 ppg. When they faced off earlier this season, the Eagles limited Ferenz to 18 points while Hodgins posted 19 with 12 rebounds.

With only seven regular-season games remaining, Eastern Washington is encountering an Idaho team that is heating up at the right time.

EWU (12-11 overall) has won two straight and sits in a tie for third place with Montana State in the conference standings at 7-4. Idaho (12-10) is in a three-way tie for second with Northern Colorado and Montana at 8-3 in league.
