Morning prep roundup: Northeast 1A league dominating WIAA league rankings

The Northeast 1A league is proving to be one of the best leagues in the state with the WIAA ranking multiple teams within the top 15 in RPI.

Freeman beat Riverside to cement its status as No. 1 in the list as Ryan Crosswhite scored 20 points in the 86-36 win.

Koa Pancho had 18 points and 10 rebounds with five assists and Newport (6-2, 3-1) beat visiting Medical Lake (4-4, 3-2) 57-43.

The Grizzlies are rated fourth in state.

And Chewelah sits at 13 in state as it beat Deer Park 49-44 behind 13 points from Dawson Youngblood.

Anton Watson’s 22 points leads Gonzaga Prep over University and Tanner Christensen. In a battle between two Division I prospects, Gonzaga-bound Watson beat Idaho-bound Christensen.

In a 5A Inland Empire League girls game, Post Falls (8-1, 1-0) dominated Lewiston (11-3, 1-1) 58-26 as the Trojans’ Melody Kempton scores 15.
