Temperatures are expected to take a dive in Spokane this weekend, but the city is gearing up for the swim season right around the corner.

Open houses will be held at area pools on Saturday for families to sign up for free passes that will get them in the gates. When the season opens June 18, it will be the first time since 1981 that entry to publicly owned pools will be free for all visitors, following a decision by the Spokane Park Board earlier this spring.

Park staff will be at Comstock, Witter and Shadle Pools from 9 a.m to 11 a.m. Saturday. The open houses will move to the Liberty, A.M. Cannon and Hillyard Poools from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.

For more informaton on the city’s pool system, visit the Parks Department website or call the aquatics hotline at (509) 625-6960.
