Gonzaga moves programs to School of Leadership Studies

Gonzaga University announced Tuesday it’s moving several degree programs and non-degree training courses from its School of Professional Studies to a new School of Leadership Studies.

The programs involved in the organizational shift include an undergraduate minor in leadership studies, a master’s degree in organizational leadership, a master’s degree in communication and leadership studies, and a doctorate in leadership studies, as well as webinars, women’s leadership conferences and some customized training programs. Gonzaga said 829 students are currently enrolled in those degree programs.

When the new school opens June 1, the School of Professional Studies will be eliminated. Jolanta Weber, an associate vice president at Gonzaga, will serve as the new school’s interim dean until summer 2019. Weber said the change would help Gonzaga’s leadership programs stand out. She said the university doesn’t anticipate hiring new faculty as a result of the change.

“This allows us the opportunity to better reflect what we do and connect with those looking for an excellent leadership education at the graduate level,” she said.
