Prep softball playoffs: Courtney Butler homers and Deer Park eliminates Freeman in 1A

Deer Park 13, Freeman 3: Courtney Butler went 3 for 3 with a home run and three RBIs and the third-seeded Stags (14-6) eliminated the visiting sixth-seeded Scotties (8-10) in a District 7 1A first-round game on Thursday. Deer Park faces second-seeded Lakeside (14-5) on Saturday at 11 a.m. in a semifinal. Olivia Erickson went 2 for 4 with a homer and two RBIs for the Stags and Cassandra Shaw struck out four over five innings, giving up three runs.

Post Falls 2, Lewiston 1: Lexi Demute went 2 for 3 with an RBI and the visiting fourth-seeded Trojans (11-12) eliminated the second-seeded Bengals (16-8) in the Idaho 5A District 1-2 second-place game. Abby Melton of Post Falls went 2 for 3 with a double. Post Falls moves to a state play-in game against District 3 fifth-place Timberline on Saturday at Lewiston HS at noon.

Lakeland 14, Moscow 4: Mia O’Hara went 2 for 3 with a home run and four RBIs and the top-seeded Hawks (10-14) eliminated the visiting third-seeded Bears (0-17) in an Idaho 4A District 1-2 semifinal in Rathdrum. Lakeland faces Sandpoint in the district title game on Saturday at 11 a.m.

Timberlake 15, Priest River 1: Becca Malloy pitched a complete-game four-hitter and hit a home run with three RBIs and the second-seeded Tigers (13-4) eliminated the visiting third-seeded Spartans (3-16) in the Idaho 3A District 1 second-place game. Maddy Salois hit a double with four RBIs and Bernie Carhart went 3 for 3 with three RBIs for the Tigers. Timberlake faces Buhl in a state play-in game on Saturday at 2 p.m.

Orofino 13, St. Maries 7: The visiting second-seeded Maniacs (9-8) beat the top-seeded Lumberjacks (14-1) in the second of a three-game Idaho 2A District 1-2 championship series.
