Women’s soccer: Colorado ends seventh-ranked Washington State’s undefeated season

From staff reports

BOULDER, Colo. – Washington State’s perfect women’s soccer season came to a halt on Thursday.

Taylor Kornieck and Jorian Baucom scored early goals to spark 20th-ranked Colorado (10-0-3, 2-0-2) to a 3-1 win over No. 7 Washington State (10-1-0, 3-1-0) in Pac-12 play at Prentup Field.

The Cougars finished with a 25-15 advantage in shots, including 15-7 in the second half, but were limited to Morgan Weaver’s goal in the 58th minute. Washington State hit the post three times and had an apparent first-half goal denied.

Megan Massey added an insurance goal for the Buffaloes in the 82nd minute, following up on her rebound.

The Cougars play at Utah on Sunday and host second-ranked USC on Oct. 13.
