Taylor Mims became the 14th player in Washington State history with 1,000 career kills Saturday as the 23rd-ranked Cougars (7-0) capped off their Cougar Challenge in Pullman with a 3-0 sweep over Stony Brook (New York).

Tournament Most Valuable Player Jocelyn Urias had nine kills and hit .643 for the Cougars. Ella Lajos (nine kills) and Ashley Brown (35 assists) also made the all-tournament team.

• Reghan Pukis had a match-high 15 kills while leading Portland (9-0) to a 3-0 sweep over Idaho (5-4) at the Rainbow Wahine Volleyball Challenge in Honolulu. The Pilots scored the final seven points of the opening set to win 25-18 and built quick leads in the final two sets. For Idaho, Reece Carman had 14 kills, Haylee Mathis 27 assists and Alycia Wodke 11 digs.
• Whitworth (6-3) finished 2-3 at the Emory National Tournament in Atlanta by sweeping Oglethorpe (Georgia) in its final match. The Pirates dropped 3-1 matches to Otterbein (Ohio) and the host seventh-ranked Eagles (6-1) before playing Oglethorpe (0-7). Jessica Schmautz guided the final-match win with 15 kills and 13 digs. Erin White finished the day with 115 assists while Addy Woolery had 44 digs.
• Community Colleges of Spokane (12-0) won its Bigfoot Classic at Spokane Falls CC, defeating North Idaho 25-13, 28-26, 23-25, 25-14 in the championship game. NIC (6-5) began the day with a 3-1 semifinal win over Edmonds, which swept the Cardinals in a season opener two weeks ago.
