Former Washington State commit Dontae Powell pledges to Cougars again after JC detour
PULLMAN – Three-star offensive lineman Dontae Powell has verbally committed to the Washington State football program. Again.
Powell, a 6-5, 314-pound tackle who played high school ball in Richland, pledged to the Cougars on Sunday, more than two years after doing it for the first time. The Richland High product chose WSU over Wyoming and Colorado in April of 2016 when he was a highly-coveted four-star prospect, but Powell was unable to qualify academically, forcing him to spend two years at Arizona Western College.

He’s picked up plenty more interest during his time at AWC, attracting offers from Arizona and Louisville, and though WSU changed offensive line coaches since he last committed, Powell decided to carry out his original mission of suiting up for the Cougars.
Powell is considered to be the eighth-rated junior college offensive tackle in the country and the 63rd-best overall, according to 247Sports.
He’s the seventh player to commit to WSU in the class of 2019 and the second offensive lineman, next to Walla Walla’s Patrick Utschinski.
