Three arrested after early morning burglary attempt in east Spokane

Police arrested three people on suspicion of burglary and robbery after two of them allegedly forced their way into a residence, demanded money, were rebuffed and threatened to come “back with the Russians,” according to the Spokane Police Department.

Spokane Police Officers responded to a report of an individual with a weapon near the 3500 block of East Empire Avenue at 1:38 a.m. Thursday.

A male and female forced their way into a residence and the female was armed with a handgun, the caller told police.

The pair said they were sent to the home to get money from a resident, according to a police statement.

The suspects got into a heated exchange with the residents and the female suspect brandished the firearm and made threats, according to the statement.

Officers saw a suspicious vehicle leave the area and stopped the car near East Wellesley Avenue and North Rebecca Street.Niles Nicola, Abby Plumlee, and Corey Darilek were arrested for burglary and attempted robbery.
