GSL girls: Jaimyn Sides scores 18 points to help Mt. Spokane down Lewis and Clark in league opener

Jaimyn Sides and Emma Main hit five 3-pointers apiece and visiting Mt. Spokane pulled away in the second half to beat Lewis and Clark 54-32 in a Greater Spokane League opener on Tuesday.

Sides finished with 18 points and Main scored 15 for the Wildcats (1-1, 1-0).

Mt. Spokane used a 12-0 run at the start of the second half to pull away. Main sandwiched a pair of 3-pointers around a 3 from Sides, and Sophia Bertotti-Metoyer added another trey to cap the run to make it 39-25 midway through the third quarter.

LC missed its first seven field-goal attempts and committed four turnovers – including two of its four shot-clock violations – to open the second half before Andie Zylak hit Brooklyn Jenson for a short jumper with 1:45 left in the third period.

Ashlee Everstine scored nine points to lead the Tigers (2-2, 0-1). Zylak added six points, five rebounds, four assists and five steals.

Gracey Neal had 10 rebounds and Bertotti-Metoyer grabbed eight for Mt. Spokane. The Wildcats outrebounded LC 36-20, including 12-5 on the offensive glass.

Mt. Spokane limited the Tigers to 28% shooting overall and LC made just 4 of 24 (16%) from the field in the second half. Mt. Spokane shot 39% for the game but hit 11 of 25 (44%) from 3-point range.

The Wildcats were without 6-foot senior guard Jayda Noble due to a hip injury. The University of Washington commit is expected to miss Thursday’s game against Shadle Park but return to the lineup Saturday against Mead.

University 73, Gonzaga Prep 47: Ellie Boni scored 19 points, Jacksen McCliment-Call added 16 and Alyssa Osborne had 15 and the Titans (2-1, 1-0) topped the visiting Bullpups (1-2, 1-1).

U-Hi hit 13 3-pointers as Boni and McCliment-Call had four apiece.

Leah Carney paced G-Prep with 13 points.

Central Valley 82, North Central 31: MJ Bruno scored 17 points and the Bears (2-2, 1-1) beat the visiting Indians (2-1, 0-1).

Anika Chalich added 14 points for CV while Justine Tonasket led North Central with 12.

Ferris 72, Rogers 33: Elliot Hencz scored 22 points and the visiting Saxons (2-1, 1-0) beat the Pirates (0-2, 0-1) in the league opener for both teams.

Bailey Warnica added 12 points for Ferris while Regina Flemming led Rogers with nine points.

Mead 72, Shadle Park 41: Joelnell Momberg scored 18 points, Kyla Momberg added 12 and the visiting Panthers (5-0, 1-0) beat the Highlanders (1-4, 0-1) in the league opener for both teams.

La Nia Thompson led Shadle Park with 18 points and Izzy Boring added 16.
