Olson named to Butkus Award Watch List

Vince Bagby SWX
College football season is less than six weeks away now for the Big Sky Conference, but Montana Grizzlies linebacker Dante Olson is already making lots of headlines before we can even get to August and the senior earned another prestigious honor this week. On Monday Olson got some serious recognition by being placed on the Butkus Award collegiate watch list, an honor bestowed annually to the top Division-I linebacker in college football. Olson is the only FCS player to earn a spot on the watch list this year and it’s only the second time a Griz player has ever been nominated for the award. The other was his former UM teammate Josh Buss last season. Olson is coming off a historic season for Montana after the Medford, Oregon product recorded a school-record and FCS-best 151 total tackles in 2018.
