Area law enforcement make at least three dozen drunken driving arrests of St. Patrick’s Day weekend
Nearly 40 people were arrested over the St. Patrick’s Day holiday weekend under suspicion of drunken driving on area highways.
In Eastern Washington, troopers netted 24 arrests as of Sunday morning, according to Trooper Jeff Sevigney, spokesman for the Washington State Patrol. Those include Adams, Ferry, Lincoln, Pend Oreille, Spokane, Stevens and Whitman counties
Sevigney tweeted the statistics with the message “Don’t be number 25.”
In North Idaho, Idaho State Police arrested 12 people suspected of intoxicated driving on 230 traffic stops in Boundary, Bonner, Kootenai, Benewah and Shoshone counties.
As of Sunday afternoon, no major traffic collisions were reported.
