Officials searching for cougar that killed 3 alpacas, miniature horse, deer in North Idaho
Idaho Fish and Game and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service are looking for a large cougar that has been sighted northeast of Sandpoint and killed multiple livestock in the area.
The cougar recently killed three alpacas near Northside Elementary School, according to a news release.
Monday afternoon the cougar killed a miniature horse near the intersection of Lower Pack River Road and Rapid Lightning Road, the news release said. It was dragging the dead horse from a barn before it was scared away by gunshots.
Later Monday night, the cougar killed a deer at the Idaho Club.
Idaho Fish and Game and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service officials are working to locate the cougar and trap it.
The Bonner County Sheriff’s office asks that people report sightings of the cougar to dispatch at (208) 265-5525.
