After eight hours of interviews with stakeholders and a three-hour executive session Friday night, the Scottsdale Unified School District board was unable to decide on a superintendent from a three-person field that includes Spokane schools chief Shelley Redinger.

The Scottsdale board will meet again Saturday beginning at 9 a.m.

The other finalists are Kimberly Guerin, Scottsdale’s assistant superintendent for educational services, and Scott Menzel, the superintendent of Washtenaw Intermediate School District in Ann Arbor, Michigan.

All three finalists met Friday with board members and committees representing various stakeholder groups – teachers, students, parents and community members, district leaders and staff.

The new superintendent will assume control July 1 for retiring superintendent John Kriekard.

Redinger, who has led Spokane Public Schools since 2012, also is a candidate for superintendent in Nashville.
