Spokane Valley stabbing leaves victim with life threatening injuries

Spokane Valley deputies are continuing to look for a suspect in a stabbing Thursday morning that left the victim with life-threatening injuries.

Police responded to reports of a stabbing on the 2700 block of North Cherry Street in Spokane Valley at about 6:15 a.m.

Multiple 911 callers said an adult man had been stabbed outside an apartment building, according to Spokane County Sheriff’s Office, which operates the Spokane Valley Police Department.

Minutes later, crews from the Spokane Valley Fire Department and American Medical Response arrived and provided medical aid before transporting the victim to the hospital.

Deputies said the incident does not appear to be random and that the victim and suspect knew each other.

The suspect fled on foot before deputies arrived. Deputies searched the area with a K-9 team and helicopter but did not locate the suspect.

Major crimes detectives and the forensic unit were expected to remain on scene for most of the day, according to the sheriff’s office.
