A man was shot in the leg at a Spokane Valley home early Thursday morning during a domestic dispute.

Aleksandr V. Pavlik, 36, was arrested for first-degree burglary after being shot in the leg by a man who lived in the home, according to a Spokane Valley Police Department statement.

Spokane Valley deputies responded just after midnight to reports of a shooting on the 8400 block of East Rich Avenue, where deputies found Pavlik and the male resident in the home.

The resident of the home said Pavlik showed up at his house looking for a car he loaned to a female friend.

Pavlik told police he used a GPS tracker system in his car to try to find it. When he didn’t find his car, Pavlik said he spoke to the shooter at the front door of the home. That’s when Pavlik told police he saw the GPS on the shooter’s table inside the house.

Pavlik and the shooter began arguing, according to a police statement.

That’s when Pavlik said the shooter pulled out a pistol and shot him in the leg. The shooter told police Pavlik is the one who had the pistol and that it fell on the floor during a struggle. The shooter said he picked up the gun and warned Pavlik to stop.

Instead, the shooter said Pavlik tried to enter the house, so he shot him in the leg, according to a police statement.

After deputies arrived, Pavlik received medical attention for the gunshot wound and was then booked into jail.

Both Pavlik and the shooter are convicted felons.
