A boy’s town

“ Pretty fences, / Holding art, / Without you, / My body tenses.” - Avram Wyche (Avram Wyche / Courtesy)
“Art can be so beautiful, / Jewels flying through air, / It can make me forget, / Even about my deepest gash.” - Avram Wyche (Avram Wyche / Courtesy)
“Moon crater bronze, / While the goat eat up trash, / Climbing up to these women, / I fell on my – bottom.” - Avram Wyche (Avram Wyche / Courtesy)
“Statues are amazing, / Often take lots of work, / Some are even designed, / Just to make people smirk.” - Avram Wyche (Avram Wyche / Courtesy)
“Clocktower by the side, / Pavillion, / Casting shadows, / Far and wide.” - Avram Wyche (Avram Wyche / Courtesy)
“Waterfalls are pleasant, / And so fun to watch, / They help me feel calm, / When I’m out of my notch.” - Avram Wyche (Avram Wyche / Courtesy)
“Buildings around me, / Some standing up high, / Others are low, / My oh my!” - Avram Wyche (Avram Wyche / Courtesy)
“Geese, Geese, / Pretty and nice, / Swimming so graceful, / It’s like they’re on ice.” - Avram Wyche (Avram Wyche / Courtesy)
Avram Wyche, a third-grader at Spokane International Academy charter school, took photos during a walk with his cousins and grandmother on the Centennial Trail through Riverfront Park in downtown Spokane. It was a welcome break from self-quarantine at home. He later wrote poems for each photo presented here.
