Visions Of The Inland Northwest Quiet Beauty Spectacular Views Comforting And Inspiring

From our house we have a view of the nice old twin arch bridge over Hangman Creek in Waverly. As a child I spent countless hours fishing from the bridge rail. And although forbidden by my mother, I learned to swim in the muddy water beneath it. Sadly, this bridge is to be replaced this summer. No span of modern prestress will match the grace of the old bridge.

My favorite vision is a view of the Cabinet Mountains from the Highway 37 bridge over the Kootenai River north of Libby, Mont. What a sight to view the vast panorama of the range, snow peaked and majestic. I always think of the church hymn, “How Great Thou Art.”

Irene Parmenter of Libby, Montana
