Women Invited To Drop In For Visit To Self-Help Center

The Women’s Drop In Center, S218 Howard, will have an open house from 2-5 p.m. Tuesday. The center, open since 1991, offers Twelve Step groups, support groups, self-esteem classes and assertiveness training.

In addition, there are also classes in math, English and art; poetry workshops, journaling, communications and more.

“It’s a place to relax and renew,” said Sister Cathy Beckley, founder and director.

The center is a “safe haven, located downtown, to provide an environment of spiritual, mental, physical and emotional well-being,” Beckley said.

There is some self-help program offered nearly every day.

The Women’s Drop In Center is a program of Miryam’s House, a transitional house for women.

For more information, call Beckley at 455-4249.
