Palin Plans Pacific Rim Odyssey

From Wire Reports

Palin to tour Pacific Rim

“Monty Python” alumnus Michael Palin has charted a course around the Pacific Rim for a follow-up to his televised trips around the equator and to both poles. The trip, which will encompass Siberia, Japan, Korea, Vietnam, China, Australia, South America, Mexico and the West Coast of the United States, is being produced by Prominent Television Ltd. in association with the BBC under the working title “Palin’s Pacific.”

Photography for the nine one-hour episodes is due to wrap in August 1996 and the series is scheduled to air in the United States on PBS in fall 1997.

Emmy arrivals to air

Leave it to Fox to put a new spin on the annual Emmy telecast.

For the first time in the awards’ televised presentation, viewers will get to see the ceremonious pre-show celebrity arrivals.

Fox will run the red-carpet coverage as a half-hour special, “Countdown to the Emmys,” which will air on Sunday at 7:30 p.m., a half-hour before the awards ceremony.
