A Mother’s Day celebration will be held Friday for women who have given up a child for adoption. The event will be at the Children’s Home Society at 4315 S. Scott from noon to 2 p.m.

The event was designed to acknowledge women who brought a life into the world but no longer have their child, says Debbie Patterson of Catholic Charities, one of the event’s sponsors. “It’s really healing for women to meet other women who have done the same thing,” she says.
