Voice Teachers Performing At The Met

Three sopranos will perform in concert at 8 p.m. Saturday at The Met.

Tamara Schupman, Darnelle Preston and Susan Windham will present opera selections from Mozart and Strauss and songs from the musicals “My Fair Lady,” “Kiss me Kate” and “The Fantasticks.”

Pianist Stephanie Kowalski will accompany.

All three are private voice teachers and all work with the Spokane Area Children’s Chorus.

As singers and educators, Preston said the group hopes its selections will appeal to a wide range of people and also be educational.

Even though the women are all sopranos, their voices are different, and they want to highlight that difference through the variety of music.

Concert proceeds will help fund a European tour of the Children’s Chorus in July 1998.

Tickets are $12, $8 for students, available at G&B Select-A-Seat outlets, or by calling 325-SEAT.
