The Spokane Symphony and Symphony Chorale will commemorate the centennial of the death of Johannes Brahms with a performance of the composer’s “Ein deutsches Requiem” at the Opera House tonight. This all-Brahms concert will also include the “Tragic Overture.” The concert is one in the Spokane Symphony’s classical concerts series. Fabio Mechetti, Symphony music director, will conduct the orchestra, the Symphony Chorale and visiting soloists soprano Julie Newell and baritone Kevin McMillan.

A preconcert lecture will be given by Leonard Oakland, Whitworth College English professor, at 7 p.m.

The Spokane Symphony concert begins at 8; tickets range from $13 to $28 and are available at the symphony ticket office in the Seafirst Building, 624-1200, and at G&B outlets, 325-SEAT.
