WSU Junior Selected For Summer Doe Undergrad Fellowship

Nathaniel Hicks, a Washington State University junior, was selected for a summer fellowship in the Department of Energy’s national undergraduate program in plasma physics and fusion engineering. He also earned a national Goldwater Fellowship for two years of academic support.

In the spring, Hicks and three other WSU undergraduate physics students participated in a NASA program at the Johnson Space Flight Center in Houston.

He is the son of Barry and Gail Hicks of Cheney.

Donnie LeBret, a June salutatorian graduate of Wellpinit High School, received three leadership and service awards this year.

He was named as an All-American Scholar by the U.S. Achievement Academy and was named to “Who’s Who Among American High School Graduates” and The United States Achievement Academy Yearbook.

He is the son of Barb and Jack LeBret, Wellpinit.

Debi Fisk, a Rogers High School student, has been named an All-American Scholar. She is the daughter of Dave Fisk and Marjean Hargens, both of Spokane.

Navy Airman Evelyn Fletcher received a Letter of Commendation while assigned at Naval Strike and Air Warfare Center, Naval Air Station in Fallon, Nev. She is a 1994 graduate of Rogers High School and the daughter of Garland and Deloris Fletcher.

Tom Jeannot, associate professor of philosophy, received the Great Teachers’ Program Award for Outstanding Teaching. In addition to core philosophy courses, Jeannot teaches in the organizational leadership program. His name was spelled incorrectly in a past Achievements column.
