Zae (Lynch) Denton

St. John, Wash.

Zae (Lynch) Denton celebrated her 100th birthday Feb. 5.

Born Feb. 5, 1906, in Ewan, Wash., Denton has been a lifetime resident of Eastern Washington.

She married Harley Denton in 1931, and the couple have one daughter and son-in-law, Donna Denton Campbell and Jack Campbell of Spokane Valley.

Her husband died in 2003.

Denton worked for the St. John Telephone Co., from 1927 to 1938, and again beginning in 1952 until her retirement in 1974.

When asked what has helped her live a long and healthy life, she said, “Keeping busy and eating healthy food. (Also), corresponding with friends and writing history of the St. John area.”

Additionally, Denton’s visitors will always find her wearing make-up and jewelry. She says, “You just feel better dressed up.”
