Lawrence Zimmerer

Deer Park

Lawrence Hiram Zimmerer is celebrating his 100th birthday today. He was born April 10, 1907, near Nardin, Okla. He’s been a resident of Deer Park for 99 years.

Zimmerer met his wife, Mary in Deer Park. They were married in 1937.

Zimmerer was a dairy farmer and says that his most rewarding life achievement was being named Dairy Farmer of the Year in 1967 for Stevens County.

He attributes his long and healthy life to working hard and not drinking or smoking. He also believes having his wife by his side for 70 years has kept him strong.

When asked what his most memorable moment in his past 100 years has been, Zimmerer replied when he accepted Christ as his Savior when he was in his mid-20s.

Zimmerer has four children: Julia Perkins of Spokane; Leo Zimmerer of Clayton, Wash.; and Ed Zimmerer and Linda Clarkson, both of Deer Park; six grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
