The main access to Salmon-Priest Wilderness trailheads was opened for vehicle traffic last week as Colville National Forest crews cleared a major rock slide. Colville National Forest Road 2220, the route to Salmo Mountain Lookout and Gypsy Meadows northeast of Sullivan Lake, had been blocked for several weeks by a huge boulder, leaving the passage only for cyclists and ATVs. A forest spokeswoman said Wednesday that all major vehicle routes on the forest are open.
