TV notes: ‘Simpsons’ set to return

Associated Press

Raise a can of Duff beer! “The Simpsons” will be back next fall for its 23rd season.

Fox says that will bring the animated series, which is the longest-running comedy in TV history, to a total of 515 episodes. Since premiering in December 1989, “The Simpsons” has won 27 Emmy awards while family patriarch Homer Simpson has consumed an uncountable number of doughnuts and Duff.

‘Rubicon’ is over

AMC announced Thursday it will not move forward with a second season of the conspiracy thriller, leaving plenty of unanswered questions for the drama’s small audience. The ambitious series never gained traction with the AMC audience, despite its cushy Sunday night time slot before “Mad Men.”
